We had the pleasure of being part of one of the many fundraising initiatives of the Mad2Run 2023 in Parkhurst a couple of weeks ago. It was a #Stravaart run followed by a coffee at local restaurant. Donations can be made for this crazy initiative at Givengain

The History of MAD: In 2003, Francois Pienaar and a group of friends, inspired by their desire to contribute to South Africa's future, conceptualized the Make A Difference Leadership Foundation. They started by making financial contributions to support a young scholar with leadership potential but lacked the means for a quality education.
Over the years, MAD has grown significantly, providing comprehensive support to hundreds of scholars.
There is a shared vision and passion between Mad2Run and MAD Leadership Foundation, emphasizing the importance of education as a means to uplift individuals and society as a whole. Both initiatives are committed to creating a positive and sustainable impact in South Africa.
Mad2Run was founded in 2012 and that involves a cross-country journey where ordinary South Africans run 1500km from Johannesburg to Cape Town in one week. The relay run, with intricate logistics, raises funds for the MAD Leadership Foundation.
The 36 person team is sectioned into two crews of six runners, per running shift, of which each shift covers 80km. There are a lot of intricate logistics involved that make this 24hr relay challenging yet manageable, but as a fundamental running requirement, each runner is expected to run a minimum of 20km per day/140km in the week. Once in Cape Town they will run the Cape Town Marathon hopefully at a nice easy pace!
